(source: FunnyJunk)

If you’re interested in learning more about the bill, here are a few highlights from The League of American Cyclists:

“The bill (soon to be available on transportation.house.gov) reverses 20 years of progress by:

• destroying Transportation Enhancements by making it optional;

• repealing the Safe Routes to School program, reversing years of progress in creating safe ways for kids to walk and ride bicycles to school;

• allowing states to build bridges without safe access for pedestrians and bicycles;

• eliminating bicycle and pedestrian coordinators in state DOTs; and

• eliminating language that insures that rumble strips ‘do not adversely affect the safety or mobility of bicyclists, pedestrians or the disabled.’”

Here’s a fine piece of gear that every guy is able to appreciate. Beyond the obvious benefits of having your favorite brew inches away from your finger tips, the fact that it looks like a disassembled football makes it the perfect topic in the week leading up to the Superbowl.

You can scoop up this clever little number on Etsy courtesy of Walnut Studios. I did a little digging, and by digging I mean I scrolled down to the bottom of the page on Etsy, and found Walnut Studios is based in Portland. Of course it is. If you haven’t spent time experiencing the perfect mix of bicycle and beer culture that is Portland, make a trip this spring you’ll be happy you did.

THE PROJECT:

This July, Ryan will be embarking on a project to ride hi fixed gear bike, solo and unassisted across America. From Philadelphia, PA to San Francisco, CA. The trip consists of about 4,050 miles and will be completed within a 30-45 day period. The unique thing about the project is that I will be riding a fixed gear bike, which has no coasting option and requires me to be constantly pedaling. I’ll also be riding unassisted, which means I’ll be making all of my own repairs as needed. The goal is to raise $5,000 – and here’s why.
WHY:

There are two main goals to this project. The reason for the project is to not only complete a bicycle trip across America, but to complete a 35mm photographic study of the trip. Throughout the trip he’ll constantly be taking photographs of each of the towns visits and prints will be offered as rewards for backers. The next goal is to work in coordination with an incredible company called Half United (http://halfunited.com). Every time someone purchases an item from Half United, the proceeds go to providing healthy school meals to children in need both domestically and internationally. By raising $5,000, Ryan will be able to get a custom fitting of my bike for the long haul, have food, create unique prints and provide them as rewards for backers, and raise awareness for Half United.

WANT TO HELP?:

If you want to help Ryan reach his goal and receive some one of a kind pictures to hang on your wall go to his Kickstarter page to find out more information and donate.
